From Pads to Power

The DignityWorks Initiative is Bloom With Dignity’s flagship program. It is a holistic, scalable model designed to permanently end period poverty while creating jobs, skills, and sustainable income within communities.

The Problem

Period poverty forces girls to miss school, exposes women to infections, and fuels stigma, shame, and inequality. While disposable pads provide temporary relief, they fail to address affordability, sustainability, and long-term access.

The Solution: The DignityWorks Model

🧵 Community-Led TVET Production Hubs

Each production hub is equipped with 70–130 sewing machines and operates two daily shifts. Women and youth are trained to manufacture high-quality reusable sanitary pads while gaining tailoring and vocational skills that open doors to wider employment opportunities.

🩸 Pad Bank Distribution System

Reusable pads are distributed through a community-based Pad Bank system, ensuring access for those who need them most:

• School Pad Banks
• Church & Mosque Pad Banks
• Community Pad Banks (dispensaries, chiefs’ offices, police stations)

📚 Menstrual Health Education

We provide culturally sensitive education on:

• Menstrual hygiene management
• Proper care and use of reusable pads
• Health awareness
• Stigma reduction and confidence building

♻️ Sustainability & Revenue

Each hub generates income through:

• Wholesale sales of reusable pads
• Affordable school uniform production

This model ensures long-term sustainability and reduces dependence on donor funding.
